Following are some iOS 8 tips and tricks and new features of iOS 8. If you don’t know then read below and try them. you will just like them.
Medical ID
Maybe the smartest update of iOS 8: In the new Health app (now required by iOS 8—you can’t delete it) is a feature called Medical ID. It’s simply a spot for you to fill in pertinent info about yourself—allergies, medications, blood type, vital stats, medical conditions, and emergency contacts—that emergency medical services (EMS) might need to access. If you allow it in the app, anyone can get to it—even if your iPhone is locked with a fingerprint. On the log-in screen with the number pad, anyone can click the “Emergency” link, either to make a 9-1-1 call, or to tap “*Medical ID” to get your info.
Scan Your Credit Cards
You know what? In online purchasing, if you donot want to add your credit card number then you can use camera in safari to scan your credit card and it will be automatically added in credit card field.
Hide Photos
Now you can hide videos and photos by holding a finger onto the photo or a video and it will give you an option to hide. You can hide it. But applications like flicker will not hide it if you have activated automatic uploading to albums in flickr.
Website Suggestions
Like Safari on the desktop you can have the iPhone or iPad Safari recommend suggested search results as you type. If you want to hide it then go to Settings->Safari->Switch off Search engine sugegstions.
Add Quick Photos and Videos to Messages
Messages has been able to handle images and videos since the days of iPhone OS 3, but it took Apple until iOS 8 to get it right. Tap the camera icon and you’ll instantly get access to your entire photo library without needing to leave the composing window. And when you press and hold the icon, a new radial menu pops up, letting you snap a quick pic or record video right in the app.
Multiple Photo Attachments in message
In messages app, you can click on camera cion and take a phot and sent it but if you want to send multiple images or videos as attachment then open gallery and select images and send it.
Add Audio Clips to Messages
Let’s face it: Siri isn’t entirely dependable when it comes to getting our words right in a hands-free text. Well, why have her write anything at all? To the right of the compose field in Messages you’ll find a new microphone icon — tap and hold it for a radial menu that lets you quickly record audio clips and send them with a flick of your thumb.
Use a Different Keyboard
We never though we’d see the day, but Apple has opened up iOS to third-party keyboards for our iPhones and iPads. You’ll find the option in Settings > General > Keyboard. Once you download the keyboard you want (which will be in the form of an app that can’t be deleted), you’ll be able to install it just as you would an Arabic or Russian alternative.
Photo Editor
You can now catch a picture by a camera and edit it immediately if you want to. While in previous versions, you had to go to your favourite photo app and edit image in it.
Recently Deleted Photos/Videos
As in our desktop systems, we have trash folder in which we can see deleted files and photos. Same like it, new version has introduced a trash like folder called “Recently Deleted” folder in which all of your deleted images will be stored for next 30 days. So make sure to delete any images from recently deleted folder too when you delete any photo or video.
Search Within a Page
Type any keyword or phrase in your url bar if you want to search that specific keywords, it will take you to the google search results but at the bottom, you will see “On this page”, click it and it will show you the results if the page.
Widgets
We’ll probably never see the day when Apple lets us clutter our home screen with moon phases and stock tickers, but iOS 8 does include an Apple-style take on an Android feature we’ve always wanted: widgets. You’ll find them in the Notification Center’s Today view, where you normally check you appointments and the weather forecast. Now apps can offer bits of information available at a swipe. It’s a compromise, but we’ll take it.
Do Not Disturb
Raise your hand if you’ve experienced this: A friend includes you in a group message that gets out of control and your phone ends up buzzing every few seconds with responses you have no interest in reading. Apple has finally given us a way out in iOS 8. Click on the Details button and you’ll be able to turn on Do Not Disturb, which will stop your phone from lighting up every time someone in the group sends a new message. And if that’s not good enough, Apple even lets you discretely leave the conversation altogether.
Quickly finding a photo in Years
To quickly scan the hundreds of images you’ve taken over a year simply press and hold your finger on the screen and run it over the images you’ve got. Like scanning through a YouTube video, moving your finger will reveal a quick thumbnail of the pictures you’ve taken.
Selfie Timer
You can set 3 to 10 seconds for selfie as a timer. You can hit the shutter button and flash will start blibking and goes faster as time reaches to the end.
