Samsung Galaxy S5 has been released and now present around worldwide. They have distributed the phone in 125 countries to cater maximum of the world’s population with the newest features of Samsung Galaxy S5. But, Galaxy S5 got region lock and you can’t use it unless you have activated it, just like Galaxy Note 3 back in September 2013. This marks an obligation that the device should be used in the same region from where it was purchased with the local SIM for the very first time. This is a big hurdle for the users, who import their gadgets and even for those who used to bring gadgets to their loved ones when traveling from region to region.
Samsung has made quite a problem for Note 3 users for its activation in the past and now the users of Galaxy S5 are restricted as well. However, the users of Galaxy Note 3 need to activate the phone. All they had to do was to turn on the SIM with the local carrier for the very first time and need to use it for as much as 5 minutes in order to get the phone unlocked. But, they have made it more complicated for the users of Galaxy S5. The requirement has now increased to make phone calls for at least 5 minutes. For example, if you have a European Galaxy S5 version and you need to you it in some other region like US or somewhere else, you need to make 5 minutes phone calls with the local SIM. Take a look on official warning from Samsung for European Galaxy S5:-
European Model:This product should be activated with a SIM card issued from a mobile operator within Europe. (as defined EU/EEA, Switzerland and the following Non-EEA countries Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M), Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, Serbia and Vatican City.) To use SIM cards from other regions, a cumulative call over five minutes must first be made with the SIM card from European operators.
